Raven try to use the startup parameters -dxlevel 81 it worked for me

i download the non steam version in this topic and run the lastest patch 1.0.0.75.



I think i found the problem. When you first installed the game it was v1 and you installed the latest patch which is v55 -> v75.
You should first install the v1 -> 55 patch and then, the the latest v55 -> 75 patch. So:

[color=#ff0000]1) Delete the game and reinstall it.
[color=#ff0000]2) Click [color=#0000ff]Uploaded.net OR [color=#0000ff]Freakshare.com to download the v1 -> 55 patch and install it.
[color=#ff0000]3) Then intall the latest v55 -> v75 patch.

After these steps, i believe the problem will be solved.


I do extractly what u say. But it doesnt work.

I had already tried (Post #5153), result "hl2.exe has stopped working".
So I had a new installation (Post # 5158) tries + latest RevEmu, result "hl2.exe has stopped working".

Could it really be the AntiVir?



I have no idea. Maybe you did something wrong, i dont know. But i dont believe that the broblem is your antivirus. I have Bitdefender Internet Security and it doesnt cause any problem to the hl2.exe file.

[color=#000000]I found an article from support.steampowered.com which says this:

Certain anti-virus and anti-spyware software such as Norton/Symantec, AVG 7.5, Avast, Spyware Doctor and Nod32 have been confirmed to cause game crashes with Source engine games.



Try to make an exclusion of the hl2.exe file in your antivirus settings. Maybe it will solve the problem.

Run game as administrator.

Play in nonsteam servers.

Try this out. Disable your internet, launch css, when u are in game enable ur internet and then play!

Okej, ive downloaded this and it all seems to work fine,however. I cant join server Ips found on steam (getting error Steam validation rejected) when trying to connect.
Is this how it "should" be? are we unable to play on any of the servers found via steam? on this setti "version"?

I also have the hl2 crash that I successfully fix by starting css with the internet disabled and then later reconnecting.
My question is: Does anyone know what causes this? Is there a permanent fix to this annoying issue?

It's a real pain to have to do this when also running a server on the same machine.
