Hi guys,

 

Just wanted to say that in the past, I would follow this method of installing the RevEmu and it worked fine. However, as of recently,, both L4D games have been updated to steampipe and the amount of files in the BIN folder are different. Mainly, they don't have a "steam.dll" file. So I'm not sure how the patch would work now.

 

Curent version of L4D is 1.0.2.8. and current version of L4D2 is 2.1.3.5. How can I install the RevEmu for for a server with these versions of the game?

Silly me, I should have mentioned it's for both Windows and Linux.

I'll follow the guide and see how it goes, but I already see the "release_09032014.7z" has files that are not mentioned in the guide at all.

Well, I posted on that topic 2 years ago about the patch not working on Linux. It still doesn't work for Linux. Only the Windows version worked for me before and now the Windows version doesn't work at all.

 

Step 3 on that guide is wrong for Windows, there is no rev.ini file in the bin folder. That file is one folder level up from that.

 

Step 6 seems to have some typos. Shouldn't SteamDll=.binSteam.dll be SteamDll=bin\Steam.dll? and shouldn't ClientDLL=.binsteamclient_valve.dll be ClientDLL=bin\steamclient_valve.dll?

 

Either way the patch is not working for the l4d games. Also, the zip file contains a folder named steampipe_source, I tried those as well but there is no instruction on how to use those files. Any ideas?

After you download the latest version of RevEmu open the compressed file. For Windows the folder you need is the one named "server". For Linux is the one named "linux". About the client versions, i will tell you asap because i can't remember the contents of the compressed file right now.

Indeed the instructions are wrong on some parts. I will update the instructions asap.
 
EDIT:
The Windows instructions are fine now except the batch file which i will edit later. Btw the batch file is optional. I also edited the Linux instructions but it's still not completely correct. I will finish the correcting when i use a pc. Right now i'm using PS4.

 But but but, making it bold will make a sniper stand out more and then get snipped himself   How about a secret font?

 

 

I found the client patch and it works fine, but as mentioned on it's page it crashes when you try to quit the game. The same client files also work for a windows server. And the files slightly differ from the ones posted in the guide you linked to. Not sure if it's alright to post the link here to that patch page.
