Hello! I just registered to start this topic. I have been playing old CSS for pretty long time and got no issues and lag problems playing with 8x8 bots on de_dust2 map with highest details and 20-30fps. Now I downloaded new OrangeBox CSS and updated it. However when I started new game on de_dust2 I noticed really choppy gameplay. I lowered all my settings to low, turning on and off multicore rendering but that had no difference. No AA, no AF everything to low and my ATI Catalyst 3D settings all switched to performance mode(low). I started de_dust2 map again with only 3x3 game and i get like 15-20fps but I am used to play like 7x7 games at least! But when I do that I get average of 11fps that I believe is unplayable. I noticed too that all maps might be detailed much more..I think they have new materials or something, any way to change them back to normal ? I used all configs and turned my new CSS into tetris graphics but no difference... Same lag on all maps even in cs_italy house... I am just interested in achievements but I see no way of porting them into old CSS and I want to play new one really bad. Help !

If the configs doesn't help you've got two solutions.

1 - Update your graphic card driver
2 - Buy new material/new PC (it's a good christmas present)

Really sad to hear that =/
1 - My graphics card are the latest 10-12 Catalyst drivers
2 - My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD4670 with 512MB memory...

I can run Team Fortress 2 on highest settings in public servers where is always like 30+ players and Assassins Creed with full DirectX 10. Its really dissapointing to hear that.

That's what I did (reinstalling the game), I thought its a virus or and reinstalled my Windows 7 just for that game ! But now with fresh install I extracted it, updated it, installed drivers to see a difference, but none ! I got new and old css installed both now but the new one always lags and if I want to play I still can launch old css and it will run smooth ! Something is wrong =/

google john's fps booster. worked for me on my old computer i got like 10fps and it went to 30. It's like casey's config, except it doesn't make the game look like shit. also try doing this in console:
cl_updaterate 10
cl_cmdrate 10

doing that will increase you fps ( I'm pretty sure, if not it at least lower latency)
I haven't noticed any difference in conectivity when doing this so this doesn't screw your game up.
hope this helps :)

Don't mind napalm. cl_cmdrate and updaterate should be set to 66. All servers run on 66 now.

Now, I had same problem as you when I updated the game but at me it was only a coincidence, my cpu cooler was fucked up. Now who knows, maybe you got the same problem. If cpu cooler is fucked up your proc is overheatin' causing it to run very slow. Have you tried other games? Do they work fine ?
Think before you speak before you drive me mad.

Nah, I don't need servers I just wanna play with bots. Thanks Napalm I will post after I try it. All other games work fine. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 max graphics no lag all completed without it. Only Call of Duty 5 runs like shit but thats a common issue it has something to do with hardware. Assassins Creed, Gothic 3, All COD except 5th, The Witcher, Civilization 5 dont even know how many to name no lag at all... Portal, Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2 all episodes completed without any lag on max details AA and AF to max too...

EDIT: FPS Config did not make ANY difference in de_dust2 match 7x7 with lowest settings and with FPS config and with ATI settings set all to low i get 9fps in the tunnel near B bomb base LOOKING AT THE GROUND D:<
