As a technical note it is possible but it's not trivial. For CS1.6 there probably exists programs that employ "UDP redirect servers". There are some server hosters that set up multiple servers on different IP addresses and you can connect to any IP address and yet there is just one server. It's not a old fashioned redirect server. We are actually trying to make a redirect (with iptables) but it don't seems to work well
This is just for the record if someone finds here via Google and is wondering whether it's technically / protocol wise possible or not. In practice it's not easily made usable.
If someone knows about these UDP redirect servers please post here at forums links or explanation how and why they exist.
At Setti redirecting was used in this fashion but it wasn't reliable in all cases:
1. Execute "retry" command on player. It is one of the few commands now that can be executed by server on player. In practice it's the same as a new player connecting.
2. At the same time set redirecting for all packets from player's IP address to the target server
3. Target server initiates communication with the player
4. Player should at this point communicate back at the target server and continue with the joining protocol.
There were problems with connection tracking and so some packets weren't rewritten by the server. The target might have been running on the same IP as well. Long story short, it's probably possible to cheat the player to connect to a different server than the player is expecting to but there are lots of special cases that make it difficult.
The idea was that admins could execute "redirect player X to server 2" just by looking at a player and pressing a "redirect key". It worked in tests but didn't work reliably for all players.
GL with the new server

Yup google is my friend
That must be possible, on Allied modders they made a litle prog to prevent DDoS on windows (Yup Windows admin don't have our FANTASTIC tools nammed iptables )
https://forums.allie...ead.php?t=95312 <= This prog seem to work like a "proxy".
But i guess that's sucks for latency !

iptables -A INPUT -s 188.40.40.201 -j DROP
So for Setti older server must be offline :
[Sat Feb 5 18:05:38 2011]: Verifying 188.165.33.14:27015 (188.165.33.14:27015)
[Sat Feb 5 18:05:41 2011]: No INFO from 188.165.33.14:27015
[Sat Feb 5 18:05:41 2011]: Could not request server information

if you add 188.165.33.14:27015 on server browser or hlsw you will see information about sum2.game-server.cc:27015.
So it's not needed to spam setti's list with the same info
