I've lately bought myself a new pc.

Only thing I have to upgrade is my screen. (wich is still max 1280 - 1024 res)
I've spend 1432 euro's (without taxes:D)

These are my specs:
Intel Core i7 950 4x 3066 MHz
12 GB RAM 1066
XFX Radeon HD 6970
Asus Rampage Extreme II Motherboard
Creative X-Fi Soundblaster extreme
Total of 3,4 Terrabyte harddisk space (no ssd :( )

Gear
Fujitsu Siemes Shitscreen :P
Razor Imperator on Steelseries SX (with gliders)
Creative 5.1 (old one, soon to be upgraded)
and a simple but good Logitec keyboard.

Total budget: About 1.800 euro's. (when screen and sound are upgraded about 2000 euro's+)

Generally, I would try to avoid tom's. When it comes to reviews, check anandtech, hardocp or techpowerup.
Anyway, the 2 cards are pretty much neck and neck.

Either one will do the job but the reason I mentioned the 6970 is because you've the option to drive 3 monitors with a single card, called Eyefinity.
Have a look here:

Pfff my playing console is better than this crap

Ofcourse I am running 64 bit. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (legal + free)
Else I crap up 12 gb to 4 ggb. why should I do that :P

Anywas. Gringo. sick rate and ammount for RAM. Really sick :). I bet you are proud indeed.
But what else do you do with you're PC. becouse 16 GB RAM is useless if it isnt used for something. (like running virtual servers in my case)

Well currently it's mostly intended for cs5 picture merging into a panoramic one. I also installed CSS on ram once but that is pointless cos my pc loads the game fast anyway.
But in the future I intend to run simple simulations on it.

However 8gb would be enough for all that but computer tech evolves so fast that i decided it's better to buy 16gb now than additional 8gb later on.
And besides more ram makes more(already loaded) things pup up faster :)

Then I understand.
I run 2 virtual servers for school (educational) And they take a total of 6 GB. So I have about 6 gb left on my pc. But same as you. I bought it in prospect of the technologies in the future :)
