A brilliant study conducted by researchers at Nottingham Trent university is claiming that people who play video games for extended periods of time might not know the difference between reality and fantasy. They are describing this as “games transfer phenomena.” The act of doing or thinking things in real life as if you were still in a fantasy/video game environment.

The study was conducted with 42 gamers from the ages of 15 to 21. According to the study, one 15 year old can’t tell reality apart from video games because he wanted to use a gravity gun like in Half-Life 2 to get something from the refrigerator. A 19 year old is headed down the wrong path because wanted to use a “search” button like in World of Warcraft when he couldn’t find his brother in a large crowd of people.

My opinion? The truth is somewhere in the middle.
