What's the purpose of the program? A calculator? It looks quite complicated..

Seriously, for the second semester. It's very difficult because the game board has to be dynamic -.-

What's Battleship? The game where you place your ships and then say e.g. "C3" and then the enemy has to see if he has a ship placed there?

Yes. With dynamic board configured by user, and with player vs bot function and player vs player.
