i have a problem each time when i try to put a clan tag i go to options multiplayer advanced and when i select my clan tag the first letter is some kind of weird R letter with a circle surrounding it i dont want it how can i fix this

You can use steamclient.dll from the older release.


What do you mean steam.client.dll? explain it to me more specifically please

If you have older setti version of css installed in your pc open main folder of the older vesion and find a file with name ''steamclient.dll'' copy it and paste it in the main folder of the new css version .
Also keep backup!



I did everything you said but the weird R letter with the circle is still the first letter on my clan tag?

For some hamachi users,

if u get class-c error, most gets it...
go to console and type: sv_lan 0

Why is the installer different? My firewall says it wants to acces some interfaces and some other stuff like proxies.

Umm the extracter is bugged.... I keep getting an error about unable to extracr consolepanelloadingbay.vtf... I redownloaded 3 times with the same result... IT is around 19% when this happens. I am running windows xp and have checked the reg or program files for anything that involves this and havent found anything.... Any help??

Try opening the file in Winrar or in Winzip. It's basically self-extracting file which you should be able to open. Also try re-downloading it just in case.

Can anyone else confirm these problems? The update worked for me. Seemingly other players have got the update done too.

It worked for me.

I have another problem though.

When I try to run as admin, Windows Vista says it can not find hl2.exe. But when I just double click on it, it runs fine. Although I can run it, I can not get on any servers as they all say they are not responding. Yes, I've disabled my firewall.

http://css.setti.inf...1703#entry51703 . http://css.setti.inf...1900#entry51900 .The problem is that these guys have not exaclty the same error at the same time. In the first guy error come up around 19% in the other around 70%! And the last guy have many extract errors!

Try to type in console ''connect ip:port'' of the server that you want to join. Do you have edit steamclient.dll or any other file now or in the past?

for all of those who have problems with game extraction and game patching:


Q.: [color=red]I get error when extracting/installing game...
A.: If you downloaded torrent then "force re-check" it.
Turn off antivirus, extract/install game to short disk path like - "D:\Games" , check if you have >4Gb free space on disk! Restart PC! Or try to extract on your friend's PC.

I am playing on good servers that have no bad files, but every couple days I have to reinstall because 10 seconds afetr starting it up its just says "hl2.exe has encountered an error..... ect." . yes i deleted the achievments and even reapllied the patch but this still happens. only fix is reinstalling which I have to do every 3 days or so

You can't. That letter is to separate nosteam from steam clans.

I hear it's possible if you use older steamclient.dll. The R is intentionally added there by the patch creator in this latest release.

You can use GreenLuma if you want an alternative. Use Google to find it. It's at cs.rin.ru forums which might require registration but you'll find everything you need in there.

Older steamclient doesn't work with latest update.
