Valve has released an update to Orangebox. Check the update here: http://store.steampo....com/news/5724/

This update has nothing to do with CS:S but it breaks everything. SourceMod doesn't work (unless you download the latest release), EventScripts doesn't work (unless you wait for update), Mani Admin Plugin doesn't work (unless you wait for update). EVERY FUCKING TIME. Why Valve?! Why?

One more reason to use cracked clients and servers to host game servers. Now Pub #2 is updated but it won't work until there is a working release of Mani Admin Plugin. Even if it's technically possible to get Mani working it is irrelevant. Valve knows about these updates probably months ahead. Why don't they inform about these updates beforehand?

Currently all Setti servers (not updated) are full. The reason most likely is that there are lots of server admins who have (automatically) updated their servers and then they notice that the servers don't work. It takes from few days to a week for server admins to get their servers fixed. Now players find servers that do work.

Valve's servers are also extremely slow because lots of servers are updating at the same time. It is annoying because the update has nothing to do with CS:S. These are the updates that are shared in the Orangebox engine:

Source Engine Changes (CS:S, DoD:S, TF2, HL2:DM)

Updated the shared interfaces for the TF2 Free To Play update

Updated the shared localization files

http://css.setti.inf...-nosteam-setti/ - update Patch_v36[35.to.36](2011-05-28 (1.0.0.61)) is working on Setti servers now. All Setti servers will update as soon as working releases are available for both client and server.

Pub #2 server is now updated but there are no plugins. The situation will most likely be fixed in the next few days for all servers.

People who want to play at other Setti's server are recommended to download this release: http://css.setti.inf...-nosteam-setti/

The update that is required at Setti right now is Patch_v36[35.to.36](2011-05-28 (1.0.0.61))

It is good that Valve continues to release updates to Orangebox. However they should inform server admins earlier about the upcoming updates.

Nah, wait till they update the engine of MAP if this is a problem. You know this happens every time with ES too. Oh btw this day a year before it was the fucking update. You know the orangebox. HAHAHA.

Nah, wait till they update the engine of MAP if this is a problem.

The problem is that clients (players) who have Steam automatically download the update. Servers cannot be updated until there are updated plugins available. The end result is that Steam users cannot play on their regular servers because they have newer game version than the servers. And the servers cannot update until an update is available for all server plugins.

You can still update the servers without the plugins. You have just to wait for the plugins to get updated then.

- Material system interface version was shifted from 79 to 80, that makes plugins failed to find material system interface.

this one is epic:
valve fucked up insecure mode so any steam players connected to insecure mode servers while running cheats will be VAC-ed. We can expect update very soon.

It's good that they did it. In some interview Gabe told that they want to test different payment methods. Now that people can buy hats and other stuff at Mann Co. Store the players themselves can decide how much "useless stuff" they want to buy and thus how much money they want to pay to Valve.

Valve is the best. Except with these stupid updates

TF2 is now in the same bullshit dump with NFS World, Play for Free and Pay for Win.

I don't play TF2 but I do occasionally play nfsw and I can say that rage is huge among the players.

It might be true that lots of noobs ruin the game.

Offtopic:
I was wondering how well password protected server would work. The password for the server would be told in Steam or other social networks. Then random noobs wouldn't be joining the server.

Another idea would be to somehow check how much online time players have on their Steam account and only let in players with more than some threshold of online hours. For example only players with more than 20 hours can join.

It doesn't matter. Too many noobs can ruin the game anyway.

I guess the noobness in CS:S and especially in CS1.6 is nowadays different because the games are so old. Everyone knows the basics at least.

Also players who move from CS1.6 to CS:S don't start as noobs.
