Since I changed from DirectX 7.0 to DirectX 9.5 on my new PC I think some visibility related things changed and I would like to see if anyone can confirm this.
For example look at these two screenshots:

When I was in DX7 I could swear I could see into the water from outside clearly. Same with the windows upstairs. I think I could see the figures through the windows even if they weren't shattered. Can anyone confirm this ?
I know certain things (like windows in office) look different depending on what graphics settings/details you use. I went from DX70 to DX95 but I kept my FPS optimized config from the old PC and I think the windows in office look the same as on DX70. But these two screenshots from seasideresort look different I think.
