Hi all,

sorry for my bad english (I'm italian),

I want to host a css server to play with my friends. How can I do that?

Where can I find a "super-noob" guide?

I downloaded the css from this website...

Can anyone help me?

Thx in advance

The CS:S you downloaded is probably the client. The best way to host a server is using a dedicated server. Check this thread: http://css.setti.inf...dows-steampipe/

Hi! Thanks for the reply! I arrived to this point:

 6. You will make yourself admin now.

Go here: "..SRCDS Non-Steam Windows (SteamPipe)css_dscstrikeaddonssourcemodconfigs".
You will find the "admins.cfg" file. Open it with notepad so to edit it. At the very bottom you will find this:

Admins
{
}

Replace it with this:

"YOUR IN GAME NAME HERE"
{
"auth" "steam"
"identity" "YOUR STEAM ID HERE"
"flags" "CHECK THE "admin_levels.cfg" FILE FOR MORE INFO ABOUT THIS"
}

After you configure it, save it.

and when I try to launch the server this is the result:

Where is the error?

Hmm, the first error I see is caused by the admins.cfg. please post the content of the file here.
The second error (Unable to load Steam support....) is because you probably started the server for the first time.
The third error has something to do with a missing mapcycle, so there is nothing really to worry about.

About the SteamID, i sent you pm about how to obtain it. About the "Unable to load Steam support..." and the other one about the mapcycle errors, i agree with what headHUNTERZ said.

If you need anything else post here, or at the topic of the server release, or send a pm to me or to heady... whatever you want. You will receive help asap anyway. ;)

The "admins.cfg" file is ok. Did you restarted your server? Cause that "Unable to load..." error always is gone after the first restart.

You just delete the folder. Delete the folder, reinstall the server, reinstall the update patch and then wait. I will release a new update patch today. Maybe that will fix this. It's strange. That error should be gone...

Ok, I tried but same result... not working. I get always unable to load steam support library.* * this server will operate in lan mode only.* error.

One question, what is the difference between installing SRCDS Non-Steam Windows (SteamPipe) U.P v1 update patch, and choosing "2" - Update into SRCDS Updater-Patcher?

I'm waiting for your new update!

Thank you!

That error might also be caused by your firewall. What antivir/firewall do you use?

I use Kaspersky Internet Security, but I created a rule in antivirus to avoid the scan of the scrds.exe file, and also in the kaspersky firewall... KIS permit all the traffic to scrds.exe...

on the router I activated DMZ, so all the ports are opened and forwarded to my pc LAN ip adress... so it cannot be a port forwarding problem..

The new update patch v2 has been released. You can download it at the first page of the release's topic.

Perfect!!! Now the server starts, but in the game it's available only in lan mode...

sv_lan is set to 0... what can it be?

If I try to connect via ip address the game says that the server don't exist...

What does it exactly say? If it's in lan mode AND is reachable from the internet it should say something about IP range restriction or so.

Are your CS:S client and your server in the same home network?

yes... they are on the same pc!! :D maybe is this the problem...

Another question,

I have one modem (D-Link 302t), and a router connected to this modem (Cisco WRT160n).

On the modem i activated dmz (to the router ip), and on the router i opened the ports

TCP 27014-27050

UDP 1200, 3478, 4379-4380, 27000-27030

is that correct?

Will be able a friend to connect to the server?

Thx for the support :D:D

1. Since your CS:S and your server are in the same network, you and everyone else in that network will have to connect to your server with the local/internal ip. 192.168...

People from other networks will have to connect to your server with the external ip of your server. http://whatismyipaddress.com/

2. If you run your server with the default port (27015), you will have to open that port. For both TCP and UDP protocols. If you use another port, open the one you are using.

You are welcome. ;)

No other ports are needed.
