I cannot connect to any server (even setti servers), I get this error "Server is not responding"

My Firewall is turned off and I removed any file which was related to css from Windows Firewall setting which is related to exceptions.

So what Should I do now?

i installed tha CS:S and applied the patch, i run the game and when i try to connect to any setti servers i get the follwing message:

Connecting to 78.46.42.232:27017...

Host_Error: Unexepected authentication protocol 1907337494!

What could it be?

You didn't updated game, reaq FAQ in first post.


I updated game, and again the same problem. also i saw a new folder of the patch is created after applying it, sth which was not happening with previous patches.

i was used to copying paste the patch and applying it, without browsing for the cs folder. in this patch the same process makes another folder inside the cs folder, so that was my mistake.

i can play now, thanks boobz prpa and everyone who contributed to this :)

If firewall is off, then you are banned on that server.

b00bs, please help. I deleted the place_the_shortcut_on_desktop.exe but I don't know how to make a new one. Can you show me how? I right-clicked and choose New, but not sure which one I should choose.

If firewall is off, then you are banned on that server.

No, I'm not banned on any server. and I get the same error when I want to connect to ANY server.
I haven't had any problem with the previous patches.

your help would be very appreciated

updated with new patch and new shortcut but the setti servers still say they are playing a newer version of the game, any idea guys?

hey got a prob since update v46 "hl2.exe stopped working"

with v45 got no probs but after installing new patch this problem.
I tryed to install patch on a cleam game install but same prob.
try with new patches v.47 and v48 but still no progress.

tryed also to install all patches (mean v45-48) on a clean install
but same prob.

Please help.

and if i set a new shortcut from inside the new file the patch creates it won't open and says program not responding

Did you tried to update Visual C++ 2010? Wait for another patch, maybe it will be fixed.

Did you tried to update Visual C++ 2010? Wait for another patch, maybe it will be fixed.

got newest version of on my computer.
hope so ... that this will be fixed

Hi i have a problem when i try to remove servers from the favorites list. Every time i remove a server the whole game freezes. Can someone help me? :(

Hi, i still get no servers in the internet tab.

Q.: [color=red]Server list says when i refresh all "no internet game respond to the query"
A.: Press on "Internet" tab, press "Quit" game, start game again & now it should work. Or try to disable your firewall/or add an exception for CS:S in the firewall.!

i read the faq, quit the game, started the gamed but still no servers.
i added hl2.exe to firewall.

Or is it better to disable the firewall?

hey this is my 1st time so i want to ask something how come then i just downloaded the game and start it with masterservers and i cant join any server non of them even from setti

I have a solution for:
-deleted my shortcut / create shortcut file
-no games on internet tab

I spend some time for this and checked out that if there is no 'name "abc"' (wihout ' ') in the cstrike\cfg\config.cfg the serverbrowser works ONCE. This is because the game adds the name line itself. You could make it read only but then u cant change ur config ingame. Here is my batch solution:
It kills the hl2.exe first. because it does not shutdown correctly


@echo off

:kill hl2.exe

TASKKILL /F /IM hl2.exe /FI "STATUS eq RUNNING"

 

:delete "name" from cstrike\cfg\config.cfg

cd cstrike

cd cfg

if exist tempfile.txt del tempfile.txt

for /f "delims=" %%i in ('findstr /V /B "name " config.cfg') do echo %%i >> tempfile.txt

del config.cfg

move tempfile.txt config.cfg

cd ..

cd ..

 

:run css

start hl2.exe -steam -game cstrike -console -appid 240
