I have a solution for:
-deleted my shortcut / create shortcut file
-no games on internet tab

I spend some time for this and checked out that if there is no 'name "abc"' (wihout ' ') in the cstrike\cfg\config.cfg the serverbrowser works ONCE. This is because the game adds the name line itself. You could make it read only but then u cant change ur config ingame. Here is my batch solution:
It kills the hl2.exe first. because it does not shutdown correctly

:delete "name" from cstrike\cfg\config.cfg

cd cstrike

cd cfg

move tempfile.txt config.cfg

cd ..

Did you installed latest patch? Serverbrowser works ok now in latest patch, read FAQ.

A.: Try to refresh. Or press on "Internet" tab, press "Quit" game, start game again & now it should work. Or try to disable your antivirus & firewall!

try to remove "127.0.0.1 bir3yka.narod2.ru" line (if there is one) from "Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" file. That's how I got rid of crash on app start.

i've reinstalled the game, the patch and put the icon on my desktop and when i try co connect to a server .... oups error...i've got this error in the game console

I allready patched it and when i try to run it as an admin it says that windows cant find hl2.exe so yeah dunno wats wrong there, but i can open it when i just open it normally without the admin, so im doin that, but when i try to join a server it says *server is not responding* and yes i have allready allowed hl2 and hl2.exe on the firewall.... someone help me plz!

Try to use console command "connect IP:Port" without quotes

You didn't patched game. Probably you just extracted update to some random folder. Read what it says when you run it or read last answer in FAQ.

b00bs, I've been getting hl2.exe has stopped working since patch 36...any help? I've been patient and waiting for a fix via valve patches but none have worked. I have windows 7 x64 build 7601

One thing more - this just occurs (crashe without internet conection) after aplying patch v. 48.

Hi! I got an error too whit the last patch. When I join a server it load and the the game quit without error message. I try to create a new server and it start, but then again it quit.
