Hi there.

With the lastest update, the server list is always empty and favourites are always the same (can't add any new one)
I tried:

- Refreshing
- Refreshing and change tabs
- Refreshing and restart the game
- Re-installing the game and re-patch it

Only Setti servers appear on favourites.

My CS:S was crashing after a few seconds of playing but now I have a solution:

The mistake was to install the v49 patch in an extra folder (default setting) and then copying it in the folder where it should be.
Just choose your personal CS:S folder during the installation of the patch so it is installed direktly to the right folder.

It works for me and I hope this helps you solving you crashing problems with hl2.

What do you mean by that kira could you explain it specifically step by step? i have installed the v49 patch into my css folder where all the main stuff are ex:hl2.exe,rev.ini is that correct? Also are you suppose to install in an extra folder besides the css folder?

Hey so I allowed CS:S to access both private and public networks in my firewall settings, and even tried turning off my firewall, but the game doesn't let me connect to any servers regardless. It always says "Server not responding", blah blah blah. Help please? Thanks! :D

Im still getting an error it says

Can't find materials/console/background001.vtf
after that it says HL2.exe stoped working

I re-download the game/re-patched and patched it the right place.

Opened patch49 browse and extract at the CSS folder

You have to apply the patch directly to the css folder.
If you get the question to replace some files than you did everything right.

Guys i really need help!!!!!!! every time i run the game theres a black screen and after i come back to my desktop i tried to fix it by intalling a "video.reg" but it keeps on not working can anyone help please im stuck :(

Try to move downloaded file to the other folder like C://Users/user_name/Downloads or try redownload.

Sorry but i'm portuguese and its on portuguese. I'm using windows vista and my antivirus is Avira AntiVir Personal-Free Antivirus. Maybe it is blocking the game.
BUT PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!

Turn off antivirus, [color=#282828][color=#008000]extract/install game/patch to short disk path like - "D:\Games"

Try to use command " connect ip:port " in your console.

Hi !

I have norton security , and every patch after v45 doesnt work norton says it is too big virus in the patch , but why didnt it say that on the other patches before v46?

I still get hl2.exe crash error? Anything i can do
game was working fine yesterday after i newly patch with v49 patch
then i close game and shut down here i am today
no longer work and i get hl2.exe error

help me
i have just downloaded it, extracted to somewhere and the game works fine. but if i try to patch it by the newest patch from this page, after some seconds launching the game it crashes. "program "hl2.exe" stopped working".
i tried to run it as administrator - the same problem, nothing that written here helps

Another reason I noticed for "hl2.exe has stopped working" is a too high overclocked pc.
My Core2Duo was about 3,6GHz (default: 2,66Ghz) and my hl2.exe crashed very often while playing (only CS:S crashed)... Then I underclocked it to 3,4GHz and CS:S was fine :)
