If memory helps me, i saw this guy joining setti ages ago. He got banned at last (at least? don't know the difference lol) 10 times, but everyday i see him around.

StyerAug was suspicious to me too but its hard to spot cheats on a player with scores like 1:9...

also player 'STEAMplayer' cheated yesterday. I dunno if it is a default name of some css update release because I've seen this name a lot lately.

I can back up on SteyAUG, but as Neki said, sometimes he had a bad score, sometimes a good score. Maybe he was just using cheats from time to time.
Also Steamplayer used the same tactic. Cheating when there was no admin around, in the morning or late at night, like last night. Steamplayer also had a friend cheating, an italian like him, don't remember the nick but if i see him, i'll post.

BAH! Rev emulator users can have static SteamID even if their IP changes because the emulator is running on their computer too and it can compute hardware specific stuff for the SteamID to be sent to the server. What if the crack he is using sends random SteamID every time regardless of the hardware? What is the SteamID of Setti server scanner? It can be anything. It's impossible for server to assign static SteamID for a player if the player tells different identification data on each connection.

Banning by SteamID is recommended but it doesn't guarantee anything. Many players probably use rEV emu or Vityan's stuff. Are hCUPa's emu still in use? What other cracks are there?

If the client sends random data as SteamID when connecting then the server doesn't have any technical or theoretical way to identify the connecting user. IP is the only way to identify the player. If the player can change his IP then there's no way to accurately identify him.

However dynamic IP addresses aren't completely random either. It is possible to range ban IP addresses and effectively block dynamic IP users.

What Perplexer meant about "we can't do anything" is "we don't want to do anything". During the years we've had lots of different banning methods.

In the long run having admins online is the best solution for handling cheaters.
